Morristown may have a national star on its hands.

Remember Zac Taylor, from this winter’s virtual Morristown Onstage competition?

It turns out the bubbly Brit spent the spring in Pasadena CA, auditioning for America’s Got Talent!

His tryout, which aired this week on NBC, appeared to wow the judges, including his famously tough-to-please countryman, Simon Cowell.

“It was a real honor standing in front of him,” Taylor said of Cowell.

The rising senior at the Morristown-Beard School in Morris Township explained he was contacted by someone at the show who saw one of his TikToks after it went viral.

They started exchanging emails, and things progressed until he had an invitation to audition.

Taylor performed Best Part by Daniel Caesar, which he also performed for Morristown Onstage.  He also has a second song ready, but what it is remains a secret.

Zac Taylor’s video performance at Morristown Onstage 2021:

“During quarantine I was on TikTok more than I should’ve been,” he said. “I saw people singing everyday, saw someone singing Best Part, downloaded it, listened to it, and it became my favorite. Just suits my voice, too.”

Taylor didn’t have much to say regarding his time in Pasadena, which he only recently was able to talk about, as he had to spend several days in quarantine before taking the stage.

However, he spoke highly of show host Terry Crews.  Judges Sofia Vergara, Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel shared Cowell’s positive reaction to Taylor.

The young singer isn’t sure whether he has landed a spot on the show — in fact, nobody is. Taylor will find out when the next episode airs on Aug. 10, 2021, when the judges will reveal which 36 acts move on.
