THURSDAY, JULY 1, 2021:

Relax and decompress at 10 am, with yoga on the side lawn of The Morristown &  Township Library. Please wear a mask to enter and exit the session, and bring your own yoga mat and desired equipment. The event is open to all ability levels and no sign-up is required.

Jazz favorite Grover Kemble performs at Rockaway’s Caffe Navona, 147 Route 46, from 6 – 9 pm.

Randolph’s three-day Freedom Festival kicks off with rides, games, food, music and free family entertainment from 6 pm to 11 pm at the County College of Morris, 240 Center Grove Road.


FRIDAY, JULY 2:

The Morristown Morristown National Historical Park re-opens the Ford Mansion and the Headquarters Museum in Morristown and the Jockey Hollow Visitors Center in Harding, 10 am to 4 pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.. Admission is free. Trails are open.

Randolph’s Freedom Festival continues from 6 pm to 11 pm with rides, games, food trucks, DJ, free family entertainment, and vendors, at the County College of Morris. Fireworks start at 9:45 pm; $5 donation per car. (Rain date: July 3.)

Mendham Township’s free fireworks are scheduled for Mosle Field. Gates open at 6:30 pm, with a live band. Bring lawn chairs, beach blankets. BYOB.


SATURDAY, JULY 3:

The Brookside 4th of July Parade, a.k.a. the Grandest Littlest Parade in America, returns to Mendham for its 98th year. This year’s theme: The Roaring 20s. Field games, parade awards, and activities for kids of all ages. The schedule:

8 am: Breakfast at the Community Club, 1 East Main St., Mendham.
9 am: Parade Begins.
11 am: Picnic Lunch & Activities at the Community Club.
1:30pm: Swimming at Brookside Beach.

The Morris Plains Farmers Market is back, every Saturday from 9 am to 1 pm until Oct. 9, 2021. Hosting eight vendors, and special guests. At 771 Speedwell Ave.

Randolph’s Freedom Festival continues with Parade Day, at 10 am (parade route: Dover Chester Road & Quaker Church Road (Mt. Fern Church) to the County College of Morris. Then, from 6 pm to 11 pm, the Festival concludes at CCM with rides, games, food trucks, music, free family entertainment, and vendors. Presented by the Randolph Kiwanis and Randolph Township.

Grow It Green Morristown’s Saturday Farm Stand is back, each week through Oct. 30, 2021 from 10 am to 2 pm, at the Urban Farm, 31 Hazel St.  Locally grown, pesticide-free produce.


SUNDAY, JULY 4, INDEPENDENCE DAY:

Happy Fourth of July!

The Morristown Farmers Market is back, every Sunday through Nov. 21, 2021, from 8:30 am to 1 pm, in parking lot 10J, behind the Morristown Post Office at Spring and Morris Streets. The Morristown Partnership welcomes 17 new vendors this year. Persons at high risk for COVID-19, as defined by the CDC, may be admitted early, at 8 am.

Tour the Whippany Burying Yard, the oldest graveyard in Morris County, with costumed members of the Hanover Landmarks Preservation Commission, at 10 am.  Free. At 325 Route 10 East.  Learn about the Township’s earliest residents, dating to 1718.

Take a quarter-mile hike from behind Morristown’s Acorn Hall to Jacob Ford’s (gun)powder mill on the Whippany River, at 11 am.  Fee: $7; members, $4; $10 includes a tour of Acorn Hall. At 68 Lafayette Ave.

The Morris County School of Glass is offering half-hour classes in glass blowing at 1 pm and 3:30 pm. At 89 Whippany Road, Morristown.

Rockaway Township presents a free concert by country band Tequila Rose, from 3 pm to 5 pm., at the gazebo at Parks Lake on Mt. Hope Road.

For more original music, join The Folk Project for Joe Guzzo’s Stayaway Sundays Show at 3 pm. Each week, Guzzo presents fans with video performances from events past, interviews with performers, and his own take on the world of music.

The Morris Plains Community Band, a 40-piece traditional concert band, performs a free concert at 6 pm in Roberts Garden Park, 99 Mountain Way in Morris Plains. Bring a lawn chair or beach blanket and your repertoire of patriotic songs.

 

Fireworks are scheduled at the Lake Hopatcong Yacht Club in Lake Hopatcong/Mt. Arlington. Rain Date: Saturday, July 10.

Parsippany will present fireworks at Parsippany Hills High School.  For more details, call the department of parks and recreation, 973-263-7257. Rain date: July 5.


MONDAY, JULY 5:

Put another burger on the barbie.


TUESDAY, JULY 6:

The Hanover Wind Symphony performs at Morris Township’s Ginty Field gazebo at 7 pm. Free. Bring a lawn chair or blanket. At 50 Woodland Road.

Sawyer Fredericks, winner of Season 8 of NBC’s The Voice,  performs virtually at the Folk Project’s Acoustic Stayaway at 7 pm. All donations go to the performer.
