Authorities are investigating a death that may have occurred at the Morristown train station late Sunday or early Monday.

At least a dozen police vehicles — marked and unmarked — were at the Morristown train station on Monday morning.  The station lobby doors were tied with yellow crime tape, and investigators were inside.

NJ Transit police at the scene referred questions to the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office. A spokesperson there only would say there is an active investigation.

Detectives have been examining security videos from Morristown businesses, seeking clues.

Morristown Green is attempting to confirm information that a man may have sustained fatal injuries in a fall on the station’s concrete steps, possibly resisting a robbery attempt.

A person in a hoodie was seen running from the station, sometime around midnight, according to a person familiar with the investigation.

  1. Where are the cameras at the station?! I feel like there definitely should be some on those stairs/tunnel…

  2. Masks have nothing to do with hoodies. And no, I didn’t notice that everyone Morristown is wearing hoodies. Maybe because they aren’t.

  3. …. they always say it was someone running with a hoodie.
Meanwhile we live in a town full of runners and everyone is in masks and hoodies.
