Greater Morristown has plenty of fun things in store for you this weekend!

THURSDAY, FEB. 25, 2021:

Local jazz favorite Grover Kemble performs weekly at Rockaway’s Caffe Navona, 147 Route 46, from 6 – 9 pm.

At 7 pm, the Mayo Performing Arts Center presents McDonald’s Salutes the Faces of Black History. This original musical and theatrical event explores the culture, music, history, and individuals that characterize the African-American experience, and is accessible to all age groups. Join the North Jersey Civil War Roundtable for Generals Sherman and Johnston in the Carolinas, a new lecture from historian and author Phillip S. Greenwalt that centers on key confrontations during the closing acts of the Civil War. The event begins at 7:14 pm. Request the Zoom meeting by emailing njcivilwarrt@aol.com.

FRIDAY, FEB. 26:

The Acoustic Stayaway from The Folk Project continues at 7 pm with singer-songwriter David LaMotte, a TEDx speaker and musical veteran who has performed more than 3000 concerts. The virtual concert is free to attend, with all donations going directly to the artist.

The Mayo Performing Arts Center presents fan-favorite comedian Vic DiBitetto for in-person evening of honesty, laughter, and fun. DiBitetto performs at 7 pm and 9:30 pm, and again at 6 pm and 8:30 pm on Saturday. Tickets: $39-$69; preferred seating includes post-event talk-back with the performer. SATURDAY, FEB. 27:

Bach, Bagels, and Bob, the Baroque Orchestra of New Jersey’s morning podcast, returns at 10 am. Maestro Robert Butts welcomes soprano Timothy Maureen Cole and Dr. Jude Pfister, chief of cultural resources at Washington Headquarters. The trio will discuss the practice of discovering and performing previously undiscovered music, specifically the recently unveiled 1693 manuscript of La Giuditta by Baroque composer Alessandro Scarlatti. The event is free, and registration is required.

The Morris County Park Commission hosts maple sugaring demonstrations at 1 pm and 2:30 pm, every Saturday through March 13, 2021, at the Great Swamp Outdoor Education Center in Chatham. Cost: $5 per person, free for children under age 3. Pre-registration required. Call 973-635-6629 for more.

The Stickley Museum at Craftsman Farms in Parsippany continues its Design & History: The Past is Always Present series at 1 pm with a virtual lecture by curator Jonathan Clancey entitled You Are What You Eat: Food, Globalism, and the Transformation of Design. Cost: $25. Register here.

Comedian Nick DiBitetto returns to Morristown’s Mayo Performing Arts Center for shows at 6 pm and 8:30 pm. See Friday entry for details.

SUNDAY, FEB. 28:

The Winter Farmers Market is back, every Sunday through March 28, 2021, from 10 am to 1 pm, outdoors on the parking deck of the Morris Museum, 6 Normandy Heights Road, Morris Township. Sponsored by Grow It Green Morristown, an authorized SNAP retailer, the market features local farmers and artisans. All COVID safety protocols will be observed. At-risk customers may browse from 9:30 am to 10 am.

If you just can’t get enough original music, join The Folk Project for Joe Guzzo’s Stayaway Sundays Show at 3 pm. Each week, Guzzo presents fans with video performances from events past, interviews with performers, and his own take on the world of music.

Lyrica Chamber Music invites the Tesla Quartet to center stage at 5 pm for this  Last Sunday of the Month Livestream. Free and open to all; Lyrica will accept donations in any amount. The performance stream from YouTube and the Lyrica site.

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 3:

The Mayo Performing Arts Center presents singer-songwriter Liz Phair for I Was Almost There, Phair’s first virtual concert, at 10 pm. She will debut two new songs and draw from her classic albums. A $20 ticket buys 48-hour access to the performance.
