This Christmas, there is no shortage of one thing: Travel warnings. From the Centers for Disease Control to the National Weather Service, agencies are advising people to stay home.

Weather first: A flood watch is in effect for Greater Morristown from 4 pm Thursday, Dec. 24, 2020 — Christmas Eve– through 10 o’clock on Christmas morning.

Up to two inches of rain could fall overnight, causing a swift snow melt, according to the weather service.

“Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop,” the service advises.

Strong gusts and thunderstorms are possible as well

Government and health officials, meanwhile, continue asking people to avoid large holiday gatherings, and to scrupulously follow safety protocols to prevent a post-holiday spike in COVID-19 infections.
