As of Wednesday morning, Dec. 16, 2020, a Winter Storm Warning remains very much in effect. The National Weather Service still forecasts between 12- and 20 inches of heavy snow, from the afternoon into Thursday morning.
Winter Storm Gail could bring two inches of snow per hour overnight, with gusts of 40 mph. Power outages are likely.
Report outages to JCP&L at 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877) or by clicking on “Report Outage” at www.firstenergycorp.com, or by texting OUT to 544487.
Morristown residents should report downed wires to the Police Bureau at 973-538-2200. They also can shelter their cars for free at these parking garages, starting at 1 pm Wednesday.
The Morris School District will continue with virtual instruction, unless widespread power outages occur, Superintendent Mackey Pendergrast said Wednesday in a message to the school community.
“The plan as of this writing is to maintain our current all-virtual schedule for Wednesday and Thursday,” Pendergrast wrote. If that changes, families will be alerted by 6:30 am Thursday via social media and the district website.
