Thanksgiving 2020
I am thankful for people of good will, who are guided by their better angels.
I am thankful for people who reject violence, and embrace compassion, empathy and decency.
I am thankful for people who continue performing good deeds, knowing full well that no good deed goes unpunished.
I am thankful for people who choose kindness over hate, charity over greed, and the pursuit of ideals forever beyond our grasp.
I am thankful for people who agree to disagree.
I am thankful for people who put others first, in hospitals and nursing homes and soup kitchens and classrooms.
I am thankful for people who sacrificed for me, our country and our world.
I am thankful for music.
I am thankful for science.
I am thankful for readers who share their wisdom and keep me honest.
I am thankful for volunteers who share their talents to keep us informed.
I am thankful for advertisers and donors who support local news.
I am thankful for neighbors who fed me when I was sick.
I am thankful for people who have reached another Thanksgiving, and for our dreams of joyful reunion at the next one.
I am thankful for family and friends who love me in spite of me.
I am thankful for love.
I am thankful for 2021.
I’m thankful for morristowngreen.com for keeping me informed and in touch with all those events that I can no longer visit in person. None of this would be possible without Kevin Coughlin, so most of all I’m thankful that he persists in his efforts.
