WORK FOR WATER
Greater Morristown Area Apprenticeship Programs – Paid On-the-Job Training

Do you know someone who may be interested in a hands-on career that provides Greater Morristown the most important life resource – drinking water?

SMCMUA is a community public water system focused on providing a safe and reliable supply of drinking water to its consumers in the Greater Morristown area. SMCMUA has developed apprenticeship programs that include paid on-the-job training in one of three functional areas including water distribution, treatment and quality.

The apprenticeship programs allow for development of skills in the assigned functional area, provide the incentive of successive promotions as skill sets advance and provides the basis of a sustainable career in the drinking water industry.

The water distribution functional area includes operations, maintenance and repair of assets such as fire hydrants, valves, water mains, meters and storage tanks.

The water treatment functional area includes operations, maintenance and repair functions for treatment facilities such as groundwater or surface water treatment plants, including specialty skills in instrumentation and control.

The water quality functional area includes sample collection, lab analyses and data reporting.
