Everyone could use a heaping helping of good cheer, right? But are the mental health benefits worth the risk of infecting the ones you love (and everyone else)?
With virtually every public official in the tri-state area urging families to eschew travel and large gatherings, who, if anyone, should you invite to your Thanksgiving/Christmas/Chanukah table?
And how in the world will we weather the bleak midwinter?
Donna Gaffney helps people survive bleak times. The Morristown psychotherapist counseled schools and communities after 9/11, Sandy Hook and Hurricane Katrina.
She is the author of The Seasons of Grief, Helping Children Grow Through Loss, and is working on another book, Radical Well-Being, Strategies and Stories for Survival.
Gaffney has degrees from Rutgers, Columbia and the University of Pennsylvania, is an advanced practice nurse, and has created a series of webinars at Rutgers to help front-line medical workers cope with COVID.
We spoke with her in late October, just as warnings about a second wave of infections were becoming reality. Our thanks to Donna Gaffney, and to Morristown Medical Center, sponsors of this episode of the Morristown Green Podcast.
