Morristown firefighters quelled a Friday morning fire that damaged the kitchen of Masago Japanese Cuisine on Washington Street.
Capt. Tex DeGroot and his men found smoky conditions when they responded to the 5:37 am call. Flames engulfed the kitchen, said Chief Robert Flanagan.
Nobody was injured. Smoke detectors activated in an apartment building behind the restaurant, and residents self-evacuated, the chief said.
The cause of the fire appears to be electrical and is not considered suspicious, Flanagan said.
