Morris Township’s Ginty and Street pools remain closed on Friday, Aug. 7, 2020.  Tuesday’s Tropical Storm Isaias knocked out power, which is necessary to run the pools’ filtration systems.

As of noon Friday, Jersey Central Power & Light reported 2,336 customers without power in the Township. That’s about one-quarter of customers there.  In Morristown, 1,186 customers remained without power, and in Morris Plains, 358.

Some 53,735 customers across Morris County were out. That’s a little more than one-in-four. The utility is aiming to restore power for 85 percent of customers by 11:30 pm Friday; the outside estimate for the remainder is late on Tuesday, Aug. 11.

Township residents who lost electricity can recharge their electronic devices at these locations:

  • Woodland Firehouse until 8 PM
  • Fairchild Firehouse until 8 PM
  • Hillside Firehouse until 5 PM

Morristown has a charging station behind town hall, open till 4:30 pm.  Morris Plains has offered recharging at its Community Center.
