The Morristown Partnership on Monday announced that the 26th annual Morristown Festival on the Green will have to wait another year.

Because of the pandemic, the Oct. 4, 2020, festival on the historic Morristown Green has been pushed back to Sept. 26, 2021.

From the Morristown Partnership:

Annual Morristown Festival on the Green Northern NJ’s Premier Fall Event has been cancelled in 2020

As a result of the COVID 19 virus, and the important safety regulations mandated by the State of New Jersey, the Morristown Partnership announces the cancellation of the 2020 Morristown Festival on the Green.

The event, previously scheduled for Oct. 4, 2020, will not go forward in the interest of public safety. Mark your calendar for the festivals return next year on Sunday, Sept. 26, 2021.

“Our organization looks forward to this event each year to showcase Morristown’s bustling community, unique historic setting and its wide range of outstanding restaurant, retail and service businesses,” said Jennifer Wehring, executive director for the Morristown Partnership.

“Currently outdoor gatherings are limited to a maximum of 500 people and social distancing must be practiced. With a history of the festival attracting over 60,000 attendees over the course of the day, such a drastic reduction in visitors would not be in keeping with the spirit of the event and the logistical and financial obstacles it would entail to proceed safely makes it unattainable in 2020,” Wehring added.

The Morristown Partnership will continue, as it has throughout the pandemic, to keep the business community up to date on the frequently changing regulations, as well as assist with the implementation of industry specific guidelines and adapted business practices.

Face masks, frequent handwashing and social distancing remain as important as ever for everyone. Shopping local is similarly vital to ensure local businesses the ability to endure the crisis.

We encourage the community to continue supporting Morristown’s businesses via adapted indoor shopping and entertainment, outdoor dining and take-out, outdoor and online fitness, salons, medical and business professionals, financial services, etc.

“2020 continues to be a challenging year for our business community and we applaud Morristown residents, surrounding communities, Town of Morristown officials and the many organizations who have gone above and beyond to meet the needs of those most affected by this devastating health crisis,” said Wehring.

We look forward to seeing everyone at the 2021 Morristown Festival on the Green on Sunday, Sept. 26, 2021!
