A man killed by an NJ Transit train near Convent Station in Morris Township on Wednesday night has been identified as Christoph Szotak, 19, of Madison.
He was struck at approximately 9:30 p.m. by eastbound Morris & Essex train 884, which had departed from Hackettstown at 8:32 pm, bound for Hoboken. No injuries were reported to the eight passengers or crew on board, NJ Transit spokesperson Lisa Torbic said on Thursday.
On Monday at 3:50 pm, a 17-year-old female from New Providence was fatally struck near Long Hill Township by westbound Gladstone Branch train 423. Authorities have not released her identity because she was a minor, Torbic said.
No injuries were reported to the five passengers or crew of that train, which had left Hoboken at 2:40 pm, bound for Gladstone.
New Jersey Transit Police are investigating both incidents.
