The Morristown High School Class of 2020 goes forth well prepared to think outside of the box.
Last Wednesday, these 462 kids graduated online.
On Saturday, they fetched their diplomas in a drive-through procession, cheered by masked teachers they have not seen in-person for three months. The pandemic also stole a prom, a play, and spring sports…but it could not break the school’s spirit.
Everyone pitched in to make the drive-through a festive farewell. (Well, almost. The last hurrah actually comes on July 8 and 9, with outdoor ceremonies.)
The occasion included an all-time great tribute to a teacher. As graduate Christian Lopez was being driven away with his diploma, he leaned out of the passenger window and shouted to his English teacher:
“Because of you, I know Shakespeare!”
