BLACK LIVES MATTER MORRISTOWN GEORGE FLOYD FUNERAL PROCESSION & VIGIL AT MORRIS TOWNSHIP POLICE DEPARTMENT

On Saturday May 30th, the Black Lives Matter Morristown (BLMM) Funeral Procession will lead George Floyd mourners and police brutality protesters through Morristown, ending with a vigil at the Morris Township Police Department, demanding justice for George Floyd.

Mourners will assemble at 7PM at Morristown High School’s parking lot (50 Early St, Morristown, NJ 07960) and drive through Morristown to Morris Township. Mourners will remain in their cars and maintain COVID19 social distancing protocols.

The funeral procession will end at the Morris Township Police Department (49 Woodland Ave, Morristown, NJ 07960), where Reverend Charles Perez of the United Methodist Church will lead the mourners in prayer.

Civil Rights Advocate and Candidate for the United States Senate, Lawrence Hamm, is expected to address the crowd and share his life’s work to ensure police accountability.

BLMM Co-Founder T’Anna Kimbrough will close the vigil with a moment of silence for George Floyd, for all those killed with police use of force, and for the survivors coping with the daily trauma of police violence. “When will it be enough? Or I was tired in 2016 after the consecutive deaths of two black men and I am tired now.”

Hundreds of residents from Northern New Jersey, Wind of the Spirit Immigrant Resource Center advocates, local clergy, and police accountability advocates are expected along Woodland Avenue in Morris Township for the candlelight vigil.

“We grieve the murder of George Floyd and stand in solidarity with Black Lives Matter demanding justice. “I’ve lived most of my life watching traumatic videos of police officers killing Black and Latino men. Even in a pandemic, we must be out here demanding justice,” said Elijah Marrero, Wind of the Spirit youth advocate.

  1. This event better not invite rioting and looting into Morristown. Highly advise store owners and residents to remain vigilant due to the crime and violence that has been taking place across US cities as an excuse for the disgusting killing of George.
