From the Morris County Freeholders:

FREEHOLDERS CREATE MORRIS COUNTY COVID-19 RECOVERY TASK FORCE

WILL TAP KEY BIZ, GOVT, EDUCATION, HEALTH LEADERS, COMMUNITY LEADERS

The Morris County Board of Freeholders is creating a Morris County COVID-19 Recovery Task Force, to include a group of key leaders from all segments of Morris County life, to help plan for the county’s eventual return to normalcy from the COVID-19 crisis.

The Task Force would operate in concert with President Donald J. Trump’s three-phase plan to gradually Open Up America Again. https://www.whitehouse.gov/openingamerica/

“We thank Morris County residents for their great effort to deal with the current crisis, from sewing masks and helping to feed unemployed families to social distancing, hand washing, and caring for their family, friends and neighbors,’’ said Freeholder Director Deborah Smith.

“Now we have to consider the next step to determine how recovery will occur, how we will get our great county on its feet again.’’

The Board of Freeholders voted last night to create a Task Force subcommittee, including Freeholders Smith, John Krickus and Tom Mastrangelo, to spearhead this effort.

Leaders from government, health, education, labor, social services, and others would be invited to participate in an effort to gather information, share ideas and develop strategies for the post-COVD-19 world in Morris County, in conjunction with state and federal governments. They would consider how to overcome potential obstacles to recovery

The Task Force could:

  • Gather information on the current state of Morris County’s economy, to determine what is and what is not working in the current response to the virus;
  • Examine the potential gradual ramping up of the county’s work force;
  • Consider how various businesses, industry, government, and education could adapt to new concepts to be able to reopen;
  • Examine the role of local and county governments to assist in the reopening of the county.

More information on creation of the Task Force will be provided in coming days.

    Sadly, your attempted satire is highly offensive and extremely immature. The symbol you so casually adorned as a “joke”, represents tremendous oppression and shows utter disrespect to the past generations of people around the world, who’s lives were negatively affected by the horrors of Soviet communism.

    Though I do understand how you could find this comical and non offensive, considering it’s only Individuals on the right that can offend.

    In this case, it was pure coincidence that I came across your insensitive attempt at satire – Facebook Suggested I might know you based off of a mutual acquaintance. Funny how some things come to be. And speaking of “trolling”, it has been noticed how you consistently find time to post nothing but negative rants to Rosemary Becchi’s page.
    Just an observation…

    There was one thing I did ask to all who posted to this article – was anyone interested in offering up constructive solutions on how Morris County can begin to open back up? Or was this just another opportunity to bash the current president and take aim at America.
    It would be refreshing to see the NJ11th stand up for the small business community or the home owners who are stuck paying things like high school and property taxes, while being forced to stay in their homes.

    The group was able to flip the congressional seat two years ago, but since then, what have they done with this new found power? How exactly has Morris County become a better place to live? As Winston Churchill said, “With great power comes great responsibility”

    Rep. Sherill is a very impressive person and I had hoped that she would fight for the district, but sadly, she has stepped in line as expected with the Speaker from California.

    As the NJ11th is famous for saying “facts matter” or maybe it should be “convenient facts matter”

  2. William,
    Could you please tell us what your beef is with NJ11 for Change, an organization responsible for bringing party balance and responsiveness back to governance in Morris County?

    Considering your comment: “these folks commenting, feel that only one party has any real solutions and all others should be ignored. They favor a one party system,” — it appears that you are contradicting yourself.

    Maybe you’re spending too much time trolling a stranger’s Facebook page and are losing it?

  3. In response to Willaim Needham is will say this. You don’t know me, you just trolled my pfacebook page. The post of me in a Russian hat was notably in front of Congressman Devon Nunes Washington office, who at the time was leaking classified information from Congressional briefings regarding the Russian influence into our elections to President Trump. It was a sarcastic photo because Nunes was the Russian sympathizer, not me. Understand? Secondly, I am not a member of NJ11 FC so do not say that I am speaking for them. I speak for myself, thank you. Thirdly, stop trolling my facebook page.

  4. The posts to this article or beyond concerning. Not one solution offered, but plenty of opinion, based solely on pure hate of the president and the Republican Party. The well being of the county is clearly not important to any of these of people, as long as a Republican has a say in it.
    I do remember a time when people put political differences aside for the betterment of the whole, but it appears those days are long gone.

    It is interesting that only left leaning solutions will suffice in this instance, considering all of the major states hit hardest by this pandemic have the same thing in common – the party running the Governor’s offices.

    Coincidence? Maybe, maybe not.

    But, it does make sense that these folks commenting, feel that only one party has any real solutions and all others should be ignored. They favor a one party system.

    Fern Wolkin from the NJ11th for change, has publicly posted images of herself wearing a Russian Cossack hat with the Soviet Hammer and Sickle insignia on the front and has repeatedly ignored any call to clarify the image. And, when this was questioned, her friends (one of whom has posted to this article) has said that she doesn’t care if her friend is a communist. This speaks volumes of the current state of NJ11th for change.

    This pandemic was just another opportunity for these individuals to spew hateful rhetoric about anyone not willing to conform to their ideology and who doesn’t have a D next to their name.

    The current state of NJ should speak volumes of how important it is to vote for quality candidates regardless of their party affiliation and the importance of public input. Or perhaps, it is easier to blame the federal government for all of our shortfalls, while promoting larger government as the solution. ?????

  5. What is the point of this? We have leadership our mayors and governor. I feel as though this is some sort of advertisement for Freeholder Smith and I do not care for it or the Threat of a pushed reopening for the county which would simply deem more things “essential.” There are other ways to protect our restaurants. Morris County one of the wealthiest in the nation, populated in mass by commuters to NYC.

    I guess I just don’t see the purpose of this action.

    The issue — put plainly– is that it’s almost summer and the advisable action to prevent a second wave would mean a drastic change in the observation of the summer months. NJ’s economy thrives in the summer. But Morris county freeholders are not responsible for that. In fact, this action opposes the needs of the people they are obligated to. By agreeing to a more present timeline of reopening, we are saying to our governments that we don’t need help when New Jersians very much do.

  6. I will wait for the Governor Murphy gives the ok. After you speak with the Governor and work out a plan for reopening I will know you have the interest of the people of Morris County.

  7. Yes, Trump has a re-opening plan. Thanks for mentioning it! Trump also told his followers to inject themselves with disinfectant and shove a light bulb down into their lungs.

    You scientifically illiterate, bootlicking Boomers can go munch on Tide Pods for Dear Leader. I’m going to follow the advice of medical and national security experts who are warning us that any re-opening without a robust testing system is going to bring about a second wave that will kill hundreds of thousands of Americans.

  8. It does’t make me feel one bit safer knowing the supporters of Trump will spearhead a task force to revive the economy and support public health in Morris County.

    Just yesterday we witnessed Trump’s ignorance of public health policy and lack of awareness of the power of the voice of the President of the United States when he commented on the use of disinfectants to combat Covid-19.

    His best defense is that he was trolling the American people/press during a pandemic that has killed more than 50,000 people. Even if it is true that he was being sarcastic, if there was ever a place for clear communication, it’s a government briefing on a public health crisis. Sarcasm would be almost as inappropriate as telling people to use the disinfectants. This is gross incompetence.

    If Trump’s presidency has demonstrated any scientific principle, it is the Dunning-Kruger effect, which describes how people who have a low ability to perform a task tend to overestimate their own ability to do it — or, to make it simpler, they are too incompetent to recognize their own incompetence. I have to believe that his supporters also may be suffering from the Dunning-Kruger effect. I don’t trust them!

  9. Are they going to issue a warning about injecting or drinking Clorox or Lysol or do they question it like Trump did.

  10. Governor Murphy is leading. President Trump is not. Trump doesn’t follow his own phased plan guidelines, he has proven to be erratic, incompetent and criminal. This task force concerns me if they are taking guidance from the White House.

  11. Thankful we have a capable governor to lead the way. Depending on a task force who is leaning on Trump’s ideas is absolutely scary. Disband immediately.
