Hoping to hone your dancing skills while stuck at home? The Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company is offering daily company-style dance classes, starting at 12:00 pm, over the video-conferencing software Zoom. Nai-Ni Chen is inviting all dancers to join them for these free classes by registering using this form.
Morris Arts has published its new exhibit, Vanishing Worlds. The works, in varying styles, explore the central theme of change and human response to it. Viewers can explore each piece of art and artist in depth, while learning about the context and inspiration surrounding each work. There are virtual learning programs for kids, too.
Opera at Florham has posted videos of its past events, featuring young opera singers in 10 performances.
The Morris County Tourism Bureau has posted a virtual walking tour, in the form of an app available on the iTunes and Google Play stores. The tour includes some of the most prominent historical features of Morristown, including the home of Thomas Nast, history of architecture in Morristown, the many historical churches in the center of town.
Hoping to see an original film while movie theaters are closed? The Thomas Edison Media Arts Consortium is working in conjunction with Black Maria Films to deliver short films free of charge, for the duration of the pandemic. Accessible anytime at www.blackmaria.org, one will find a curated program of short films, in addition to healthy recipes to emulate the feeling of “dinner and a show.”

FRIDAY, APRIL 17:
Yoga instructor Munah Hayes is taking her 9:30 am session from the Morristown and Morris Township Library to the digital world.
At noon on Wednesdays and Fridays, Carolyn Dorfman Dance is now offering a free, hour-long class studying Contemporary Modern Dance Technique via video-conferencing platform Zoom. Each class centers around an excerpt from Dorfman’s own work. Registration for the classes is available here.
At 12:30 pm, the Mayo Performing Arts Center continues its weekly live concert series with a special performance by singer-songwriter Lauren Davidson. Drawing inspiration from an eclectic variety of genres, including country, pop, and rock, Davidson has been described as “an early Patsy Cline or Linda Ronstadt.” The concert, expected to run between 20 and 30 minutes, will be available on the MPAC’s Facebook page. Combining humor with song during a time where everyone could use a laugh, Carla Ulbrich presents a free concert series on YouTube at 6:30 pm. You can wear sweatpants to this show–Carla might, too. She aims to offer a creative distraction, while remaining sensitive to the coronavirus crisis and raising money for local food banks and other causes.
Brooks Williams will be taking The Folk Project’s digital stage at 7 pm as part of its Acoustic Stayaway program. Ranked among the country’s Top 100 acoustic guitarists, Williams fuses meaningful lyrics with an instrumental style that blends blues and American roots.
