Church bells will peal across Morristown at 1 pm on Monday, April 13, 2020–and each day thereafter–as symbols of hope and solidarity in the pandemic.
Bells of Hope and Healing will “remind everybody of where we are, and that we’re together as a community, and we’ll pull through this, as a community and a nation,” Mayor Tim Dougherty said on Friday.
Assumption Church, St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, the Presbyterian Church in Morristown and Saint Margaret of Scotland Roman Catholic Church will participate, Dougherty announced.
To date, Morristown has 198 confirmed cases of COVID-19. They break down like this:

48.5 percent of cases fall within the 18-46 age range.
Morris Township reported 142 cases through Thursday, while Morris Plains had 28.
Morris County has seen 2,771 positive test results and 135 deaths as of Friday. Statewide, 54,588 cases have been confirmed, and 1,932 people have died.
Across the United States, nearly 476,000 cases have been confirmed, with 17,925 deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University.
Worldwide, more than 1.6 million people have tested positive, and 100,376 have perished.
