An open letter to Greater Morristown from the Morris Interfaith Clergy Council

From the Morris Area Interfaith Clergy Council:

We extend warm greetings to residents, worshipers, students, families, employers, employees, and friends of the greater Morris community from the Morris Area Interfaith Clergy Council.

To introduce ourselves to those of you who may not be aware of who we are, we are an affiliation of faith entities primarily located in Morris County who meet regularly to discuss needs and concerns of our collective constituencies, and develop mutual platforms for addressing these issues.

Some of our sharing and planning have focused on spiritual issues and some on secular issues, but our intent has always been to explore and respond to areas of interest that either (1) raise awareness of items of mutual community concern; (2) provide support for unmet needs in various sectors of the community; (3) promote collaboration among individuals, organizations, faith institutions and other groups to enhance the quality of life in the Morris area, and; (4) generally create an environment to help sustain harmonious and caring relationships.

In recent months, with the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, our mission has become all the more important in establishing a sense of well-being and stability in our beloved community.

With the imposition of restrictive gathering guidelines that have disrupted our normal cycle of activities, the Clergy Council wants to assure you that we are doing everything possible to keep us connected and engaged.

Besides our respective houses of worship continuing to stream services and support information, the Council is putting together a list of resources to keep the lines of communication open, and to reduce any sense of isolation you may be encountering. We are here to help and encourage.
