Morristown Medical Center is treating a 44-year-old male from Morris County who has “presumptively tested positive” for COVID-19.
The test sample is being sent to the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for final confirmation, the hospital said in a statement.
“Our team at Morristown quickly identified, isolated and evaluated this patient upon
presentation to our facility,” the statement said.
“At this time, the patient…remains in isolation, and is receiving ongoing care.”
It was not clear on Saturday if the patient is the same person with COVID-19 who Morristown officials on Friday described as working for the Shalom Yeladim Nursery School in town.
A public relations firm representing the town told the media on Friday afternoon that this individual, whose identity was not released, was not at Morristown Medical Center.
Earlier in the week, the hospital announced it was erecting a “triage tent” — “a self-contained, patient triage and assessment system”–outside its emergency department. Other medical centers around the nation, including the famed Cleveland Clinic and Rush University Medial Center in Chicago, are taking similar measures, reports Becker’s Hospital Review.
“Our team at Morristown Medical Center and throughout Atlantic Health System recognized the significant impact that this virus could have and has been working collaboratively with state and local health officials to prepare for when this might affect our communities,” the hospital,” the hospital said Friday.
