The Morris County St. Patrick’s Parade isn’t the only event in Greater Morristown felled by fears of the coronavirus.
The County College of Morris announced Wednesday it will close its Randolph campus for spring break, March 16-22, for a “thorough deep cleaning and sanitization process.” CCM’s library is closed to the general public until further notice; a list of canceled campus events is here.
Drew University in Madison announced plans earlier this week to cancel on-campus events and switch to online instruction.
“Out of an abundance of caution regarding public gatherings in tight spaces,” Thursday’s opening reception for the exhibit Vanishing Worlds has vanished, according to Morris Arts. The March 12, 2020, event at the Gallery at 14 Maple in Morristown will be rescheduled “when the Covid-19 situation has settled down.”
The Morristown Women in Business have postponed their annual awards night, scheduled for March 23 at the Mayo Performing Arts Center, “until things have settled.” Refunds will be issued, the women’s group said via e-mail.
Meanwhile, management at the 1,300-seat Mayo Performing Arts Center is keeping a close eye on developments.
“Like everyone else, we are monitoring the situation, talking to local authorities, staying informed and being vigilant about keeping our facility clean,” said General Manager Ed Kirchdoerffer.
“We haven’t had any shows cancel on us yet, nor have we canceled any, but obviously things change on a daily basis, so we continue to develop our contingency plans should they need to go into effect. We ask that if people feel ill they not come, or if someone feels uncomfortable, they can call our box office and we will work with them.”
