Greater Morristown weekend preview: Super, even without the Bowl

Yes, a pretty big football game is scheduled for Sunday.

But Greater Morristown offers lots of fun this weekend before the opening kickoff.

THURSDAY, JAN. 30, 2020:

The Morristown United Methodist Church concludes its Music at Noon season, featuring the Heritage Piano Trio (Nancie Lederer, violin Marnie Kaller, cello Pauline Lederer, piano Rick Kaller, special guest pianist)  at 12:15 pm. Suggested donation:$10/$8 seniors, free for students with ID. Complimentary coffee and tea are served at 11:30 am.  At 50 Park Place (on the Green).

The Morristown & Township Library hosts Superbowl Table Craft, where kids can make cheer pom poms for the Super Bowl, from 3 pm to 5 pm. Free. At One Miller Road, Morristown.

Morristown’s Mayo Performing Arts Center presents The 5 Browns, a Juilliard-educated family of pianists, at 7:30 pm. Tickets: $39-$59. At 100 South St., 973-539-8008.

FRIDAY, JAN. 31:

Morning Yoga with Munah Hayes returns to the Morristown & Township Library at 9:30 am. Free. Bring a yoga mat. At One Miller Road, Morristown.

The Front & Center for Performing Arts ensemble of 50 area students presents CATS at 7 pm, in the Dolan Performance Hall at the College of Saint Elizabeth in Morris Township. Tickets: $30. Encore performances on Saturday and Sunday. At 2 Convent Road.

The Troubadour Acoustic Concert Series in Morris Township presents Joe Jencks with opener Katherine Rondeau  at 7:30 in Morris Township. Admission: $10; children 12 and under, free. At the Morristown Unitarian Fellowship, 21 Normandy Heights Road.

SATURDAY, FEB. 1:

Learn about maple sugaring at the Great Swamp Outdoor Education Center in Chatham Township, sessions at 1 pm and 2:30 pm Saturday and Sunday. Admission: $4, ages 3 and up. Seating is first come, first served. At 247 Southern Blvd., 973-635-6629.

SUNDAY, FEB. 2:

Grow It Green Morristown hosts the Seventh Annual Winter Farmers Market, from 10 am to 1 pm at the Alexander Hamilton School in Morristown. More than a dozen regional vendors will sell everything from pasture-fed meat to winter produce. Every Sunday through March 29, 2020.

The Fosterfields Living Historical Museum in Morris Township presents A Winter’s Day on the Farm, noon to 4 pm. Admission: $6-$8; children under 2, free. At 73 Kahdena Road.

Author and historian Robert Fredericks will discuss his history of the Morristown Fire Department, The Flame Fighters of Morristown: 220 Years of Serving the People of Morristown, 1797 – 2017, at 1:30 pm at Acorn Hall in Morristown. Admission: $7-$12. At 68 Morris St.

Temple B’nai Or in Morristown hosts an opening reception Hineni (Here I Am), an exhibition of recent works by local artist Susan Roth, from 1 pm to 3 pm.
