Federal aviation authorities are investigating what caused a Beechcraft BE20 to skid off a runway at Morristown Airport on Saturday.

No injuries were reported in the 12:14 pm incident.

The twin turbo-prop plane went off Runway 23 into a grassy area after landing at the airport, according to the Federal Aviation Administration, which is investigating with the National Transportation Safety Board.

“We are gathering information,” said NTSB spokesman Terry Williams.

Aviation records show the plane is registered to the L.C. Whitford Co. Inc., a family- owned bridge construction company in Wellsville, NY.  Company representatives  could not be reached for comment on Sunday.

Firefighters from Morristown, Morris Township and Cedar Knolls responded to the initial alarm. The incident closed the airport — frequently used by President Trump–for a time on Saturday afternoon.
