New Guidelines on Plastic Recycling
The Township of Morris is announcing an important change in its plastic container recycling rules for its curbside recycling program. Only plastic containers coded 1, 2 and 5 are acceptable.

Coded #1 (PET, Poly EthyleneTerephthalate) examples include water, soda and salad dressing bottles, microwavable food trays, and peanut butter container.

Coded #2 (HDPE, High Density Polyethylene) examples include milk jugs, shampoo bottles, and butter and yogurt tubs.
Coded #5 (PP, Polypropylene) examples include ketchup and syrup bottles, and some yogurt containers.

Paper: Newspapers/ Magazines • Junk Mail/ Office Paper • Corrugated Cardboard (breakdown & place loosely in cart) • Cereal/Cracker/Cookie Boxes • Milk/Juice/Ice Cream Containers(rinsed & clean) • Phone Books/Paperback Books • Brown Paper Bags • Paper Egg Cartons

Plastic: Plastic Containers (Bottle & Non-Bottles) Coded: #1, 2 and 5

Metal: Aluminum Cans • Steel(tin) Cans • Foil & Pie Pans(cleaned)

Glass: Glass Bottles & Jars (remove lids & caps)

All recyclable items should be free from food and debris. Place all recyclable materials loosely into the blue automated recycling cart.
