Morris Township police: Numerous power lines down from ice storm; 3,500 without power across Morris County

Tuesday’s ice storm has downed numerous trees, branches and wires throughout Morris Township, inclusing along South Street, Van Buren Road and Andrea Lane, police report.

Motorists are advised to drive with caution, and expect detours and delays.

As of 6 pm, about 3,500 Morris County customers of Jersey Central Power & Light were without electricity.

That number included 104 customers in Morris Township and 84 in Morristown.

Some 179 customers lost power in Parsippany, 132 were in the dark in Rockaway Borough, 124 were out in Mendham Township, and 86 in Randolph.

Hardest hit were Mt. Olive (1,516 customers) and Washington Township (593).

Restoration estimates have not yet been posted by the utility.
