The holidays were in full swing Wednesday at Morristown town hall, where seniors were treated to mountains of food from area restaurants at the mayor’s annual party.
Town employees volunteered as servers at the lunch lines, while deejay and sax player Pete Limone Jr. kept the hits coming.
As is his tradition, Mayor Tim Dougherty played Santa, assisted by First Lady Mary Dougherty. They handed out donated gift certificates for dinners, spa visits and hotel stays.
Some 117 seniors turned out for the festivities.
On a somber note, the mayor asked the revelers to remember Jersey City in their prayers. Two gunmen there killed at least four people, including a police officer, before they were killed on Tuesday.
Dougherty, a friend of Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop, said they had been scheduled to dine together last night.
On the lighter side, Dougherty polled the room about whether he should run for president.
“Well, I got one vote,” he said, acknowledging a raised hand.
