The Morristown Cultural District threw a holiday party on Saturday — its first Theatre of Light, on the Vail Mansion lawn.

Despite sub-freezing temperatures, a crowd gathered to hear the Mayo Performing Arts Company sing holiday tunes.

Morristown High School junior Bobbi Baitey’s rendition of Stevie Wonder’s Someday at Christmas was among the evening’s highlights. Check out our video:

Baitey’s sister, Aja, is a past member of the performing arts company. She’s studying musical theater at Pace University.

Saturday’s festivities followed a free screening of The Grinch next door at the Mayo Performing Arts Center.

The Morristown Cultural District consists of MPAC, the Morristown & Township Library, the Presbyterian Church in Morristown, St. Peter’s Episcopal Church and the Jockey Hollow Bar & Kitchen.

Library Director Chad Leinaweaver and Presbyterian Church Pastor David Smazik said they are hopeful that special lighting can illuminate their downtown area year-round, with colors changing by season.
