On Wednesday, September 18th from 4:30 – 9:30, the Therese A. Maloney Art Gallery in Annunciation Center at the College of Saint Elizabeth will host an opening reception for their new exhibition, Expresiones Latinx II, featuring 30 New Jersey Latinx artists including current and already-graduated Art Majors from the College of Saint Elizabeth. The exhibition focuses on the Latinx experience in terms of Family, Friends, Food, Home, Memories, Places, Religion/Worship and the Immigrant Experience. The reception is free and open to the public.
This show is a sister exhibition to Expresiones Latinx Iat the Gallery at 14 Maple, Morris Arts, 14 Maple Avenue in Morristown. Both shows were curated by CSE Art professors, Virginia Fabbri Butera, PhD, and Will Suarez, MFA and are part of a larger effort by the Arts & Culture Collaborative in Morris County to celebrate the Latinx communities, arts and cultures in our neighborhoods.
Dr. Butera notes, “The range of imagery and quality of the works in both shows reveal the diverse ideas and experiences expressed by artists ranging in age from 19 to 75. We are thrilled to be part of this larger initiative to celebrate the creativity of those with Latinx heritage. Join us to meet the artists and celebrate their ideas and skill!” The show is on view through November 17th. Hours are Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Sunday, 2 – 6 pm or by appointment at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Art, film, food, literary and musical events, presented by 26 members of the Arts & Culture Collaborative, are part of the LatinX ConeXiones celebration and are listed on the website: https://artsandculturecollaborative.org .
