|Where would opera be without its power women – the divas and their emotionally charged arias? Sopranos, mezzos, coloraturas… Opera at Florham celebrates these extraordinary females in our 2019-2020 season opener on September 22: “Heroines, Harlots and the Heartbroken – women who make opera unforgettable.”
Join award-winning professional vocalists, soprano Clair de Monteil, coloratura soprano Holly Flack and mezzo-soprano Maria Zoi as they perform arias and duets from Carmen, Lakmé, and Così fan tutte among others, with musical accompaniment by Mary Pinto and narration by Mariana Karpatova.
Enjoy light refreshments during intermission and continue the afternoon with a mix of opera, Broadway and the signature song “La vie en rose” of the great Edith Piaf. The afternoon ends with a full company rendition of “I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair” from South Pacific. We promise an event that will engage music lovers of all interests and ages.
The concert takes place on Sunday, September 22 at 2pm set in the classically stunning drawing room of the former Vanderbilt-Twombly estate, The Mansion at Fairleigh Dickinson University, 285 Madison Ave, Madison, NJ.

The program encapsulates all sides of the female operatic personality from feisty to fearful as Holly, Clair and Maria display their resplendent talents to give us an afternoon of real tour de force singing!”
The 2019-2020 season includes four more events: Nov 3 La Bella Musica di Bel Canto, Dec 1 Holiday Collaboration with Fairleigh Dickinson University Students, Apr 5 Crossing Genres and May 31 International Vocal Competition.
