Remember Memorial Day? The Fourth of July?

And finally… Labor Day. Summer’s last hurrah.

Our abbreviated preview offers some diversions in Greater Morristown to keep you out of traffic during this long weekend.

THURSDAY, AUG. 29, 2019:

Meet Me in Morristown, the downtown sidewalk arts and crafts fair, concludes its sixth summer, with vendors tables and live music stretching along South Street to the Morristown Green, from 5 pm to 9 pm. Presented by Morris Arts and the Morristown Partnership.

Mama D & the Vexations, a Morristown cover band, perform a free concert at 6:30 pm on the lawn of the Vail Mansion, 110 South St. Presented by the Mayo Performing Arts Center. Rain venue: Follow the signs to St. Peter’s Parish Hall.

FRIDAY, AUG. 30:

Morning Yoga with Munah Hayes returns to the Morristown & Township Library at 9:30 am. Free. Bring a yoga mat. At One Miller Road, Morristown.

It’s outdoor double-feature time in Morris Township: Spaceballs, followed by Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, starting at 8 pm at Ginty Field. Free. A deejay will take music requests starting at 7 pm. Presented by the Department of Parks and Recreation. On Woodland Avenue, 973-326-7371.

The Troubadour Acoustic Concert Series(formerly the Minstrel) presents Irish music star Johnnie Doyle with Mick McAuley, with opener Sharlys Dugan, formerly of Dugan’s Hooligans,  at 7:30 pm in Morris Township. Tickets: $10; children 12 and under, free.  At the Morristown Unitarian Fellowship, 21 Normandy Heights Road.

SATURDAY, AUG. 31:

The Morris Plains Farmers Market is back for its 17th season, from 9 am to 2 pm every Saturday through Oct. 12, 2019, rain or shine, in the Merchant Block parking lot near the Model Railroad Club building.


 

SUNDAY, SEPT. 1:

The Morristown Farmers Market is back for its 29th season, from 8:30 am to 2 pm every Sunday through Nov. 24, 2019. At Lot 10, behind the Post Office, between Dumont Place and Morris Street. Presented by the Morristown Partnership.


 

MONDAY, SEPT. 2, LABOR DAY:

You work hard. Relax! Enjoy the fruit of your labor.
