Authorities in Bergen County have accused a handyman from Morristown, Alejandro Velasquez, 44, of sexually assaulting a juvenile while working at a home in Demarest.
Velasquez faces charges of aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault by contact and endangering the welfare of a child, according to the office of Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella.
Responding to a report of a sexual assault of a child under the age of 13, Demarest police arrested Velasquez on Monday.
Velasquez is being held in the Bergen County Jail pending a detention hearing on Aug. 26, 2019.
The investigation was directed by Chief Robert Anzilotti of the prosecutor’s office and Demarest Police Chief Christopher Bianchi.
