She’s only two years old, but Ella Rose Ann Morris is in the fight of her life as she battles a rare form of leukemia.

Parents and grandparents are in her corner with round-the-clock support at Boston Children’s Hospital, where Ella will undergo treatment for the next six months.

What’s needed is a cure for acute megakaryoblastic leukemia. Glassworks Studio in Morristown is hosting a research fundraiser this Thursday, Aug. 22, 2019, from 7 pm to 9 pm.

Ella’s aunt, longtime Glassworks employee Courtney Maxwell, was alerted by colleague Meghan Loughnan of Morristown about the Lymphoma and Leukemia Society (LLS).

Proceeds from the $25-per-ticket evening will go to the “Ella Strong” team participating in the LLS Light the Night Walk on Oct. 26. The team’s fundraising will help the LLS support research.

“This whole experience has been really tough for my family,” Maxwell said. “By raising money for LLS I want to help other families to not go through this ever again. Hopefully one day there won’t be cancer altogether.”

Thursday’s event will start with instruction on making a fused glass votive candle holder and continue with refreshments and prizes.

“You feel totally helpless and want to do what you can when you know people are hurting,” said Glassworks owner Stacey Schlosser. Her sentiments are echoed by a lengthy list of donors who have furnished door prizes, food, and beverages.

Glassworks is at 151 South St.
