Greater Morristown’s biggest day of music is here: The Ninth Annual Morristown Jazz & Blues Festival!

It’s a summer highlight, for sure, though the entertainment riches don’t stop there.

THURSDAY, AUG. 15, 2019:

The 2019 Baroque Orchestra of New Jersey Summer Music Festival, Anne Matlack and Grace Community Music continue their half-hour lunchtime keyboard recitals with a 12:15 pm performance of Silbermann, Sebastian & Saxony by Michael Rosin. Admission: Freewill offering. An $8 lunch by Slamwich follows. At Grace Church, 4 Madison Ave., Madison.

Glen Burtnik, alumnus of Styx and the original Beatlemania, brings his Summer of Love Woodstock Edition concert to Morristown’s Mayo Performing Arts Center at 8 pm. Tickets: $29-$59. At 100 South St., 973-539-8008.

The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey presents its final weekend of N. Richard Nash’s The Rainmakerdirected by Bonnie J. Monte, at 8 pm. Tickets start at $49. At Drew University, 36 Madison Ave., Madison, 973-408-5600.


FRIDAY, AUG. 16:

Morning Yoga with Munah Hayes returns to the Morristown & Township Library at 9:30 am. Free. Bring a yoga mat. At One Miller Road, Morristown.

The Troubadour Acoustic Concert Series (formerly the Minstrel) presents acclaimed singer-songwriter Richard Shindell, with opener Andrew Dunn of the Folk Project, at 7:30 pm in Morris Township. Tickets: $10; children 12 and under, free.  At the Morristown Unitarian Fellowship, 21 Normandy Heights Road.

SATURDAY, AUG. 17:

The Morris Plains Farmers Market is back for its 17th season, from 9 am to 2 pm every Saturday through Oct. 12, 2019, rain or shine, in the Merchant Block parking lot near the Model Railroad Club building.

The Morris Museum in Morris Township hosts its annual Gem, Mineral and Fossil Sale, from 11 am to 5 pm. Admission: $5. At 6 Normandy Heights Road, (973) 971-3700.

Greater Morristown’s biggest musical event is here: The Ninth Annual Morristown Jazz & Blues Festival runs from noon to 10 pm on the historic Morristown Green. It’s free–bring a lawn chair or beach blanket. The lineup:

  • 6 pm: Bernard Allison Group

Morris Township’s Seventh Annual Family Camp Out starts with a 5:30 pm check-in at the Ginty Field Gazebo. Participants will have access to the Ginty Pool from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. At dusk, the public can watch Spider- Man: Into the Spider-Verse on a giant outdoor screen. Overnight campers can enjoy games, activities, s’mores, and a bonfire. Checkout starts at 8 am Sunday with bagels and drinks. Camping fee: $10 per family. SUNDAY, AUG. 18:

The Morristown Farmers Market is back for its 29th season, from 8:30 am to 2 pm every Sunday through Nov. 24, 2019. At Lot 10, behind the Post Office, between Dumont Place and Morris Street. Presented by the Morristown Partnership.

Hungarian virtuoso Peter Toth returns to the Morristown National Historical Park at 1 pm to perform works by Mozart, Megyeri, Liszt and Chopin. Admission: Free. At the Washington’s Headquarters auditorium, 30 Washington Place, 973-539-2016 x 204 or email here for more.

The Baroque Orchestra of New Jersey  concludes its  2019 Summer Music Festival with its Summer Breezes concert, featuring works by Haydn, at 3 pm at Grace Church in Madison. Tickets: $5-$40.  A 4 Madison Ave., 973-366-8922.
