Power outages affecting Morristown and Morris Township, Aug. 5

UPDATE: JCP&L says power was restored as of 10:30 am. The cause of the outages still was being investigated.

More than 1,100 customers in Morristown and Morris Township are without electricity this morning, Monday, Aug. 5, 2019.

As of 9 am, Morristown police were reporting outages on Washington Street and North Park Place had affected some traffic signals.

Jersey Central Power & Light’s website indicates 815 customers were without power in Morristown, and another 329 were out in the Township. Estimated restoration times: Noon for Morristown, 11 am for the Township.

JCP&L spokesman Cliff Cole said crews are attempting to determine the cause of the outages.

  1. I live in Morris Township and am still without power. It initially went off at 4 am, then was restored around 4:30 am, and haven’t had it since 1 pm. It’s frustrating because I have a 1 year old and have been told 4 pm, 6 pm and now 11 pm for the restoration to happen.
