3

On Monday morning, power was down on Washington Street and North Park Place in Morristown.

Now, as of lunch hour, portions of Morris Street, Maple Avenue and other downtown areas are affected.

Jersey Central’s website reports more than 2,800 customers are without electricity: More than 1,700 in Morris Township, and nearly 1,100 in Morristown. Estimated restoration: 4 pm.

From Morristown police:

<<Morristown Police are reporting that an ongoing utility issue has resulted in the closure of Morris Street between Elm Street and the Green in both directions.
In addition, the utility issues have resulted in multiple traffic lights being out on the south side of Morristown in the area of Rt. 202, Ann St, and Bank St.
Police officers are on the scene and detours are being put into effect however, motorists should avoid the area or expect delays.
JCP&L are aware of the situation and have crews on the scene.>>

We are affected, too, and are posting via mobile phone for the moment.

Morristown Green has reached out JCP&L and will post an update when we hear more.

  1. Dang, 8:30 and lots of customers still out and no RFO posted:

MORRISTOWN TOWN 445 Today at 11:00 PM

Seems like they are understocked on whatever spares are needed when there’s an equipment failure…
