July, we hardly knew ye!

THURSDAY, JULY 25, 2019:

The Mayo Performing Arts Center presents free screenings of Captain Marvel at 10:30 am and 7 pm. Reserve free tickets here. At 100 South St., Morristown, 973-539-8008.

Meet Me in Morristown, the monthly sidewalk festival presented by Morris Arts and the Morristown Partnership, returns with sidewalk sales starting at 11 am, and arts and entertainment from 5 pm to 9 pm.  The band Purple Hayes, finalists in the 2019 Morristown Onstage competition, will perform on the lawn of the Morristown & Township Library at 5:30 pm. Headliners Secret Sound will play on the Green at 6 pm.  Rain date: Friday, July 26.

The jazz group Amani celebrates Nat King Cole at 100! at 7 pm at the Morris Museum’s Bickford Theatre in Morris Township. Featuring Stephen Fuller on vocals, Fred Fischer on piano and vocals, Flip Peters on guitar and vocals, Marty Eigen on Tenor Sax, Alex Grissel on bass, and Vern Mobley on Drums. Tickets: $18-$20. The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey presents its outdoor production of William Shakespeare’s Long Lost First Play (abridged), at 8 pm in the amphitheater of the College of Saint Elizabeth in Morris Township. FRIDAY, JULY 26:

Morning Yoga with Munah Hayes returns to the Morristown & Township Library at 9:30 am. Free. Bring a yoga mat. At One Miller Road, Morristown.

Madison’s Downtown Concert Series presents jazz singer Brynn Stanley–the voice of MorristownGreen.com!–from 6 pm to 8 pm, outside the Museum of Early Trades and Crafts at 9 Main St.  Admission: Free. Bring a lawn chair or beach blanket.

Jazz in July concludes its 15th summer at the Morristown & Township Library at 7 pm, featuring Jazz Standards with Bill Moring on bass, Bob McHugh on piano, Tony Signa on saxophone and flute, David Humm on drums and special guest vocalist Audra Mariel. Tickets: $20; proceeds benefit the Friends of the Library. Refreshments will be served, and there will be a cash bar. At One Miller Road, Morristown.

It’s gone by different names over the years. But one thing has remained constant: Great music. The Troubadour Acoustic Concert Series (formerly The Minstrel) in Morris Township celebrates its 44th anniversary with a 7:30 pm concert featuring approximately 44 (count ’em!) Folk Project members. Admission: $12, includes cake and refreshments. At the Morristown Unitarian Fellowship, 21 Normandy Heights Road.

The Morris Plains Farmers Market is back for its 17th season, from 9 am to 2 pm every Saturday through Oct. 12, 2019, rain or shine, in the Merchant Block parking lot near the Model Railroad Club building.

The Morristown Farmers Market is back for its 29th season, from 8:30 am to 2 pm every Sunday through Nov. 24, 2019.  At Lot 10, behind the Post Office, between Dumont Place and Morris Street. Presented by the Morristown Partnership.
