THURSDAY, JUNE 27, 2019:

Uncle Floyd

New Jersey’s one and only Uncle Floyd performs at 1 pm at Acorn Hall in Morristown, in conjunction with the Morris County Historical Society’s exhibit, Iconic Culture: From Little Black Dress to Bell Bottoms. The Mayo Performing Arts Center presents Ugandan singer-songwriter Tshila in a free 6:30 pm concert on the Vail Mansion lawn, 110 South St., as the headliner for this month’s Meet Me in Morristown sidewalk fair. A handful of South Street businesses will have sidewalk sales starting at 11 am; arts, crafts and live entertainment runs from 5 pm to 9 pm. Meet Me in Morristown is a joint presentation of Morris Arts and the Morristown Partnership. Rain date: Friday, June 28.

Morristown officials have scheduled a 6:30 pm public workshop to discuss a major office development and traffic circle proposed for the Midtown Shopping Center strip mall at Morris and Spring streets. The workshop is in the third floor seniors center of town hall, 200 South St. Read about the project here and see a video presentation here.

The Loyola Jesuit Center in Morristown hosts its eighth annual Evening in the Loyola Prayer Gardens from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., featuring The Baroque Orchestra of New Jersey conducted by Maestro Robert W. Butts. Tickets: $40 per person, $75 per couple. includes cocktails and light buffet dinner. Raffle tickets: $100. Proceeds benefit the center. The Morristown & Township Library continues its Pride Month Film Series with a free 7 pm screening of Pride (2014, British, R-rated). Light refreshments. At One Miller Road, Morristown.

The North Jersey Civil War Round Table presents a provocative two-part lecture: Did Lincoln Free the Slaves? and Was General Grant a “Butcher”?, by James Hedtke, retired history chairman of Cabrini University, at 7:14 pm. In the Haggerty Education Center of the Frelinghuysen Arboretum in Morris Township. Admission: $5; members and students, free. At 353 E. Hanover Ave. (opposite the Morris County Library).

Southside Johnny will give a rare acoustic performance, accompanied by Jeff Kazee, at the Morris Museum’s Bickford Theatre in Morris Township at 7:30 pm. The concert will follow a discussion of Southside Johnny’s career with the Asbury Jukes and the Poor Fools, led by Jay Lustig of NJArts.net. Tickets: $25-$30. Ken Ludwig’s The Three Musketeers continues its run at the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey in Madison at 8 pm. Tickets start at $49 for this swashbuckler, which continues through July 7, 2019. At Drew University, 36 Madison Ave., 973-408-5600. Read our review.

FRIDAY, JUNE 28:

Morning Yoga with Munah Hayes returns to the Morristown & Township Library at 9:30 am. Free. Bring a yoga mat. At One Miller Road, Morristown.

The classic rock band Rosewood performs on Friday, June 28, 2019, from 6 pm to 8 pm outside Madison’s Museum of Early Trades and Crafts, 9 Main St., (973) 377-2982. Free.  This Friday-night summer series is presented by the museum and the Madison Downtown Development Commission.

The Folk Project’s Troubadour Acoustic Concert Series in Morris Township presents a special Summer of Love sing-along show, Songs of the Sixties, featuring Folk Project members, at 7.30 pm. SATURDAY, JUNE 29:

The Morris Plains Farmers Market is back for its 17th season, from 9 am to 2 pm every Saturday through Oct. 12, 2019, rain or shine, in the Merchant Block parking lot near the Model Railroad Club building.

The Morristown Shade Tree Commission, TD Bank and Katerra Construction invite the public to join them in a cleanup of Pocahontas Park (across from Speedwell Park) at 9 am. Please bring metal rakes if you have them, and garbage bags. Cleanup areas will include the hill near Kinney Street.

The Garden State Comic Fest returns to Mennen Arena in Morris Township for a weekend of comic book bliss, from 10 am to 6 pm, and from 10 am to 5 pm on Sunday. Admission: $20-$75. At 161 Hanover Ave. Make sure to visit the Morristown police table–police plan to give away Captain America posters by artist Billy Tucci.

The Morris County Tourism Bureau presents an 11 am walking tour of Morristown People & Places, led by local historian Bonnie-Lynn Nadzeika, who will point out architecturally important buildings in the Historic District and recount stories of prominent Morristownians. Tickets: $15. The hour-long tour starts at the Tourism office, 6 Court St.

SUNDAY, JUNE 30:

The Morristown Farmers Market is back for its 38th season, from 8:30 am to 2 pm every Sunday through Nov. 24, 2019. The Burnham Boys will perform at 10 am. At Lot 10, behind the Post Office, between Dumont Place and Morris Street. Presented by the Morristown Partnership.

The Garden State Comic Fest concludes at Mennen Arena in Morris Township, from 10 am to 5 pm. See Saturday entry for details.

Hungarian piano virtuoso Peter Toth will perform a free recital at 1 pm at the Washington’s Headquarters Museum in Morristown.  The program will feature Franz Liszt’s Funerailles,  Scott Joplin’s Solace and Arthur Foote’s Meditation and An Irish Folk Song.
