Vegan runner Robbie Balenger left Los Angeles in March and made a quick stop in Morristown on Monday on the way to his big finish in Central Park.
By the end of his trip this week, Balenger will have covered 3,175 miles.
Video: Marisa Sweeney interviews Robbie Balenger:
The former restaurant manager started running to relieve stress, and adopted a plant-based diet in 2018. He is running to spread awareness about setting goals and eating right.
Morristown Mayor Tim Dougherty and First Lady Mary Dougherty were on hand to welcome Balenger.
Marisa Sweeney, the owner of Be Well and the New Jersey VegFest, asked the runner a few questions before he hit the road to his last stop of the day in Chatham.
Matt Marshall from Morris Plain just missed Balenger when he stopped at the Morristown Green, but caught up with him in Madison and logged a few miles.
To join Balenger or cheer him on, you can track his location on his live GPS Tracker.
He is scheduled to finish at Tavern on the Green on Wednesday, May 29, 2019, between 1-2 pm. Balenger and his team plan to celebrate with NadaMoo Ice Cream.
