Tornado warning for Greater Morristown till 9 pm, May 28; severe T-storms through 9:45 pm

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning for Greater Morristown until 9 o’clock tonight, Tuesday, May 28, 2019:

“Take cover now.”

From the warning:

At 846 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado
was located near Morris Plains, or near Morristown, moving southeast
at 35 mph.

HAZARD…Tornado and half dollar size hail.

SOURCE…Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT…Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage
to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is
likely.

Locations impacted include…
Morristown, Dover, Madison, Florham Park, East Hanover, Chatham,
Wharton, Rockaway, Morris Plains, Mountain Lakes, Victory Gardens,
Parsippany and Hanover Township.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest
floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a
mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter
and protect yourself from flying debris.

A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect through 9:45 pm.
