This year marks the 150th annual Memorial Day Parade sponsored by the Rockaway, Marcella and Denville Memorial Association and, in honor of this anniversary, the towns of Rockaway Borough, Rockaway Township and Denville Township will combine their observances with a single parade.

The Line of March will begin at 11 am on May 27, 2019, from the corner of Beach and Main Streets in Rockaway Borough and proceed to the Civil War Monument in the Presbyterian Church lot.

The parade route will include:

  • March to Library Roll of Honor (Placing of Wreath, Salute to the Dead)
  • March to Rockaway River Bridge (Casting of Flowers on Waters, Salute to the Dead)
  • Pause at Firehouse (Moment of Silence for Departed Firefighters)
  • March to Civil War Monument in Presbyterian Cemetery

Traditional observances will be held immediately following the parade.

Special thanks to …

… the Rockaway, Marcella and Denville Memorial Association (organized: May 30, 1869) whose hard work will ensure the success of this year’s special observance of Memorial Day.

Officers include: James Vialard (President & Historian), Thomas Hiler (Vice President), Phyllis Vialard (Secretary/Treasurer), George Coulthard (Assistant Historian) and Samuel Saporite (Chaplain).
