Morris Township police: Attempted motor vehicle theft overnight; update

From Morris Township police:

Please be advised that during the overnight hours there was an attempted theft of a motor vehicle in the Wheatsheaf Area of the township.

Between the hours of 02:00 and 03:00 a.m. on Tuesday May 7, 2019, unknown
suspects entered an unlocked vehicle on Wheatsheaf Farm Road, activated a
garage door opener, and attempted to steal a motor vehicle.

The suspects were confronted by the homeowner and fled in a light colored SUV.  The suspects are described as white or Hispanic males in their 20’s.

The suspects did not threaten the homeowner, nor were any weapons involved.

There are also other cars reported to have been entered in the area, which is located
on the west side of town between Sussex Avenue and Mendham Road.
