New Jersey Education Foundation Partnership Selects Morris Education Foundation as the 2019 Outstanding Large Education Foundation

The Morris Educational Foundation (MEF) announces the New Jersey Education Foundation Partnership (NJEFP) has named it the 2019 Outstanding Large Education Foundation.

The award was presented on Friday, March 29, 2019, at the NJEFP Education Foundation Awards luncheon at the Mercer Oaks Golf Club in West Windsor among education foundations from across the state of New Jersey.

Morris Educational Foundation received the award for Outstanding Large Education Foundation for its exceptional financial support for the Morris School District – giving more than $3.5 million to the schools since being founded in 1992.

Morris Educational Foundation logoMEF has underwritten grants that impact the diverse constituencies in the schools, funded district-wide initiatives, and provides college scholarships. MEF has also established extensive partnerships with community organizations, institutions, and businesses to provide additional educational experiences for the 5,200 students in the district.

MEF was selected by a committee of judges comprised of NJEFP partners who are also national and state leaders in the education foundation community. Membership in NJEFP was not a prerequisite for nominations.

“In this time of diminishing resources for public education, it is gratifying to read about the work of education foundations throughout New Jersey. The applications for the awards truly reflect the passion of community members to provide their students with exceptional educational opportunities and experiences, despite the limitations of public funding. We applaud the accomplishments of the Morris Educational Foundation and the impact it has had on the students of the Morris School District!” cites judge Trudy Doyle, immediate past president, NJEFP, and retired Executive County Superintendent.

Ann Rhines, longtime MEF member of the Board, also was recognized during the luncheon as an outstanding volunteer.

“We are thrilled to have received this recognition as Outstanding Large Education Foundation. The work we do in partnership with the Morris School District is only possible because of the dedication of our volunteers,” said Patty Haralampoudis, chair of the Morris Educational Foundation.

“I cannot think of a community volunteer more devoted to the students of the Morris School District than Ann Rhines. We are lucky to have Ann in our community,” Haralampoudis added.
