From Morris Township Police Chief Mark DiCarlo:

I am happy to say that the nicer weather appears to be on the horizon, however better weather tends to bring out some increased speed from our motorists.

The Morris Township Police are committed to addressing all traffic related issues within the Township. The most reported traffic complaint always tends to be speeding.

In addition to speed enforcement, the police department engages in deterrent tactics, traffic calming measures and education. The purpose of this email is to inform you of recent complaints of speeding on Skyline Drive, Western Avenue, Canfield Road and Fairmount Avenue.

While some of these roads may be cut-throughs for motorists, historically we find that a majority of the speeders are usually Township residents from the neighborhood the complaint originates from.

You will see an increase in speed enforcement in these areas. Please understand that speeding complaints are taken seriously and although officers exercise discretion, speeding tickets will be issued when appropriate. This email will hopefully serve as a deterrent to reduce speeds and an advisement that the police will be enforcing speeding violations.

I do understand that there are other areas and streets that may have a speeding problem and the police department will address according to availability of speed sign boards and manpower. Please slow down and be careful.

Thank You

Chief Mark DiCarlo
