It was my privilege to moderate a discussion last week about the tenuous future of local news.
These are challenging times, as any community editor will attest. Nobody is getting rich doing this. But the business does have its rewards.
When I get sick, readers bring me chicken soup. (So far, no poison!) That doesn’t happen in too many lines of work.
And when there is a parade, it’s my honor to march with the finest lads and lasses one ever could hope to meet. Saturday marked MorristownGreen.com’s 11th appearance in the Morris County St. Patrick’s Parade. On the Fun Meter, this one was hard to beat.

Some hearty thanks are in order–in Irish and English. Let’s start with the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick of Morris County and the Irish American Association of Northwest Jersey for throwing another splendid parade. And they picked another winning Grand Marshal, in Father Paddy O’Donovan.
Thanks to everyone who lined the route to cheer for us. Without you, this spectacle would be nothing more than a dangerous walk in traffic!
A big tip of the tricorn to Morristown DPW crews who removed the snow, to all the police and emergency services personnel who made things run safely and smoothly, and to the Morristown Parking Authority for free parking.
Team Morristown Green is grateful for Jeff Sovelove’s Iron Man performance with camera and pen, and for superb images from Katharine Boyle and Penny Lopez, featured below.

Many thanks to our orchestra from the Morristown Uke Jam: Beth Bachmann, Mark Dutton, Mike Sagurton and Danny Vento.
And last but far from least, thank you to our intrepid standard-bearers and kazoo chorus. Alphabetically, they included:
Heidi Colindres and daughters Adriana, 10, and Aurora, 8; Susan D’Alessandro; Kevin Glynn; Mardi and Wawa of Mama Drama fame; Leslie Raff and Louise Witt.
Truly, the Luck of the Irish blessed me when our paths converged! See you all again on Memorial Day in Morris Plains?
