As powerful winds buffeted Morris County, close to 400 customers in Morris Township were without electricity on Monday morning, according to Jersey Central Power & Light.

County-wide, more than 4,400 customers were affected, including 38 in Morris Plains and 26 in Morristown.

A High Wind Warning remains in effect for Greater Morristown through 6 pm today, Feb. 25, 2019. Anticipate winds of 20-30 mph, with gusts possibly reaching 60 mph, the National Weather Service advises.

Morris Township police reported the right lane is closed on West Hanover Avenue, between Irondale and Burnham roads,  because of downed telephone poles and power lines. This caused power outages in that area.

“Please use caution when traveling in the area,” police advised.

Mendham Road near Lewis Morris Park also was closed in both directions, Morris Township police said.
