For Aidan Philbrick, helping to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society wasn’t just a good thing to do, it was personal.

“Cancer has affected my family, and I know blood cancers have affected good family friends. When this opportunity came up I felt compelled to help in any way I could,” Philbrick said.

The Oratory Prep student and Morristown native is leading a team raising money for the 2019 Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Student of the Year campaign.

Philbrick is no stranger to fundraising, having led or participated in teams while a student at Assumption School.

“In 7th and 8th grade, I participated in the Walk to Cure Arthritis,” and was a New Jersey youth honoree for his fundraising in 8th grade, he said.

Aidan is grateful for the help in this venture by some former Assumption classmates as well as some of his friends at Oratory. His sister and cousin are also helping him raise money.

“Thanks to all the people who have made donations, my awesome team members…their support means the world.”

On March 9, 2019, there will be a Grand Finale dinner where all the high school teams will gather and the top fundraisers will be honored.

His team has been raising money with events at local businesses.

This Sunday, Feb. 10, from 10 am to 3 pm, B Jones Organic Spa at 62B South St. in Morristown will be charging $25 for a mini service, with all proceeds going to Philbrick’s campaign.

There will also be an event at Pinot’s Palette in Morristown on Feb. 15, from 1 pm to 3 pm. with the proceeds going to the campaign.

His team still is contacting friends and businesses to raise more, and may have additional events.

Some local area restaurants also will be giving donations on food purchases on certain days. The list can be found on Aidan’s webpage, where donations are also accepted.
