Morristown police officer struck by car while directing traffic

A Morristown police officer was struck by a car while directing traffic on South Street on Thursday night.

Officer Dennis Bergman, a 14-year veteran of the force, was routing traffic around emergency utility work at South and Madison Avenue at 7:20 pm when he was hit by a 2017 Toyota Camry driven by Harold Kofman, 43, of Morristown, Police Lt. Stuart Greer said in a statement.

Bergman was evaluated for minor injuries at the Emergency Department of Morristown Medical Center, and released, Greer said.

The incident remains under investigation
