Authorities to discuss Immigrant Trust Directive, bias crimes, in Morristown, Feb. 5

Bias crimes presentation Feb 2019

Authorities will discuss New Jersey’s Immigrant Trust Directive, as well as bias crimes, at the Parish House of the Presbyterian Church in Morristown, on Feb. 5, 2019, from 6 pm to 8 pm.

The presentation will be followed with a discussion by panelists from the Morris and Sussex County prosecutor’s offices, as well as an FBI Special Agent whose duties encompass bias crimes.

Issued last November by state Attorney General Gurbir S. Grewal, the directive restricts state, local and county policy from voluntarily assisting federal immigration agents. Such collaborations may inhibit immigrants from reporting crimes, according to the attorney general.

Admission is free.  The parish house is at 65 South St.
