Friday was not Michael Sorger’s day.
First, he got struck by a vehicle on South Street in Morristown. Then, he got a ticket for it.
Fortunately, the Perth Amboy resident did not sustain any life-threatening injuries, according to police.
The accident occurred around 6 pm, in the vicinity of Braunschweiger Jewelers. Sorger, 41, was trying to help direct traffic for a box truck that was attempting to access a driveway, said Morristown Public Safety Director Michael Corcoran Jr.
A 2015 Jeep driven by Allison Johnson, 33, of Basking Ridge, struck Sorger, who was not wearing reflective clothing on the wet evening, Corcoran said.
Sorger was taken to Morristown Medical Center for evaluation of back pain. His injuries appeared to be “minor in nature,” Corcoran said.
Investigating Police Officer Mark Underhill deemed Sorger at fault and issued him a summons for failure to yield to a car outside a crosswalk, Corcoran said.

I don’t think that getting struck by a moving vehicle is very funny. That was his box truck that his partner was attempting to back up, he was simply working! The fact that the writer is attempting to poke fun at the situation is pretty tasteless. I assure you that it wasn’t very funny at all… I’m his fiancee & I’m the one who got the call from a total stranger who saw the entire thing & was kind enough to stay w/ him… it wasn’t funny, it was pretty scary. And he wasn’t laughing in the background, he was screaming in agony. So good job on the article guys…
