Morristown book fest, education foundation give $10K for school books

Morristown Festival of Books and the Morris Educational Foundation Partner to Fund Social and Emotional Literacy Libraries in the Morris School District.

Morristown, Nov. 26th, 2018: Morristown Festival of Books and the Morris Educational Foundation co-presented a $10,000 donation to the Morris School District Board of Education on Monday, Oct. 15.

Each organization contributed $5,000 toward the addition of books focusing on social and emotional learning for all libraries in the Morris School District.

“It is truly an honor for us to come together with Morristown Festival of Books to do something special for our community’s young readers. It’s not only an honor, it’s fun… it’s meaningful… it makes sense… and it’s important for two organizations that are committed to literacy, education, reading and learning to come together to support our area’s children,” said Debbie Sontupe, executive director of the Morris Educational Foundation.

The Morristown Festival of Books celebrated its fifth year on Oct. 12 and 13. The Morris Educational Foundation is pleased to have been selected as the Festival’s charitable partner for the second year in a row.

“We are thrilled to continue our partnership with the Morris Educational Foundation. Supporting students of all ages and their families with books on a such a prevalent topic is the perfect example of learning through reading. The Festival is committed to connecting our community through reading and conversation,” said Linda Hellstrom, founder of Morristown Festival of Books.

The $10,000 donation will fund the purchase of books and resources focused on social and emotional learning for district’s pre-K through 12th grade libraries. The books will be purchased and installed this academic school year.
